Onze missie: Toegang tot geneesmiddelen
Farma ter Verantwoording dient het algemeen belang door te streven naar toegang tot medicijnen. Geneesmiddelen en medische technologieën worden op maatschappelijk verantwoorde en duurzame wijze beschikbaar gesteld. In dit verband hecht de Stichting waarde aan een eerlijke prijsvorming en distributie die in overeenstemming is met geschreven en ongeschreven nationale, Europese en internationale rechtsnormen.
Wij trachten onze doelstellingen te bereiken door advies en informatie te verstrekken aan regeringen, belanghebbenden, professionals en het grote publiek. Als dat niet helpt, bereiken we onze doelstellingen door mogelijke juridische stappen rond te hoog geprijsde medicijnen. Onze statuten vindt u hier.
Onze geschiedenis
De Pharmaceutical Accountability Foundation werd in juli 2018 opgericht als reactie op onethisch spel van het farmaceutische stimuleringssysteem dat het vertrouwen van het publiek beschaamt, patiënten schaadt en de toegang tot geneesmiddelen verhindert. De Stichting Farma ter Verantwoording is in juli 2018 opgericht. Wij vinden dat onredelijk hoge prijzen van geneesmiddelen, onethisch gedrag en misbruik van marktexclusiviteit door farmaceutische bedrijven ten koste kan gaan van het algemeen belang en patiënten. CDCA was sinds 1976 op de markt als behandeling tegen galstenen, en werd sinds 1999 off-label voorgeschreven voor de behandeling van CTX tegen een kostprijs van 0,28 euro per capsule of 308 euro per behandeljaar in Nederland.
Nadat Leadiant de exclusieve marketingrechten had verkregen, verhoogde het de prijs van CDCA tot € 140 per capsule of € 153.300 per behandeljaar, waardoor CTX-patiënten een verlammende nieuwe prijs werd opgelegd. Hiermee verkreeg het bedrijf een monopolipositie en verhoogde de prijs 500 keer: van €0,28 per tablet in 2008 naar €140,00 per tablet in 2018. Sinds deze zaak bekend werd hebben artsen , apothekers en patienten organisaties bij ons veel andere voorbeelden van onredelijke prijzen of prijsverhogingen gemeld. De Stichting doet hiernaar onderzoek.
De Pharmaceutical Accountability Foundation heeft actie ondernomen tegen Leadiant – en zal actie ondernemen tegen andere bedrijven die op soortgelijke wijze misbruik maken van hun exclusiviteitsrechten.

Bestuur en adviesraad
Het bestuur van de Stichting Farmaceutische Verantwoording bestaat uit een Raad van Bestuur en een Adviesraad van Deskundigen. De raad van bestuur is verantwoordelijk voor het beleid en de uitvoering van de activiteiten van de Stichting. Beide besturen werken op 100% vrijwillige basis en stellen hun kennis, vaardigheden en ervaring geheel belangeloos ter beschikking aan de stichting.
